A little about Regional Business Toolkit

I'm Caolan. I'm a digital coach who helps regional businesses leverage digital tools to maximise their business and regain control of their lives.

I don't live on the internet, I have only watched the Matrix once and I'm not the most productive person on the planet. But I am confident that digital tools, if used wisely, can help all of us understand our business better, empower others and maximise the use of our time. At the end of the day, if I can free up just two hours of your day that you normally spend at work, to invest in your family, your community or even (dare I say) yourself then I'm a happy man.

Regional Business Toolkit is my gift to you. It's not a blueprint, but rather a smorgasbord of ideas, strategies and tools that you will save you precious minutes and hours per week. Delivered by article, video and e-learning course there's something that everyone can take away and implement in your business today.

My Story

I used to be an outdoor educator, which I really did enjoy. In fact my aspiration was to "have a significant impact on 1,000,000 Aussie kids". For over a decade I facilitated centre and journey based programs, led and trained teams of staff, taught at Uni, managed centres in NSW and VIC, oversaw a team of 80+ permanent field staff through Australia's biggest natural disaster, project managed the renovation and construction of two major centres including Victoria's newest school camp in Marysville and had a blast doing it. Over the course of a dozen years I had notched up over 240,000 kids that I'd affected significantly.... and then came one.

In 2012 my plans changed with the birth of my first child, or more importantly my priorities did. Spending 60, 70, 80hrs a week helping other people's kids develop didn't seem as important as spending time with my own. So I'm no longer an outdoor educator... but rather a Dad who does other projects on the side.

Working out how to leverage digital tools so I could regain control of my life became a crucial part of my life. And now I want to share these tactics and strategies with you.

Maybe you're not a first time parent? Maybe you're life isn't under rapid change? Maybe you just know that with a little assistance and direction you'll be a little happier and healthier or feel a little more balanced. Maybe you know that there's better or more efficient ways of doing business. If this sounds like you then we're off to a great friendship.

So why Regional Business Toolkit

In speaking to business owners throughout regional Victoria and New South Wales I've discovered two things:

1. Business owners are paralysed by the choices available in getting their businesses online. Should we be on Facebook or Instagram, do I need my own website, which one of these fifteen places should I start???
2. Feel isolated in regional Australia and are a little jealous of their metro cousins who appear to have so many resources and classes "just around the corner". Driving 45min to the nearest consultant, or waiting three weeks until they're available to visit just means it's easier not to start.

Regional Business Toolkit is a resource centre for business owners who want to know "what works", delivered in a way that means you can pick up information in a time and place that works for you, regardless of where in regional Australia you're situated. At the very least you can see what's involved and make decisions on your own without or before paying someone else to get you going.

Like I say, I just want to see your regional business grow and compete with your metro cousins.

I want to see you succeed online, and as such every done-for-you service I offer has a period of ongoing coaching bundled. For example, if you want me to build a website I'll plan to meet up with you on the phone/Skype/in person for 3-6months and teach you how to use your website and update it yourself. If you want me to help with your social media management I'll keep you in close contact until you can look after it yourself. Ultimately, I want you to be confident in managing your own online strategy and I'm happy to hold your hand until you can.
